This week I have focused on refining, and shaping the hammer head. I have added some decorative (and weight reducing) lines, and I have shaped the face of the hammer to a circle instead of a rectangle like it had been. I have also forged the haft of the hammer so that it fits the hammer head well, with little wiggle room. The the extra haft material sticking through the hammer head will be forged down to form a mushroom cap to help ensure a good tight fit (The head will also be welded to the haft on the top and bottom). Now I will be turning my efforts towards forging the decorative scroll work, and making the handle.
